This guide describes how to install and manage the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe and the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render UIM probe.  The Guide covers the following topics:

System Overview

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe for CA UIM leverages Horizon View to capture alarms from the SQL database.

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor: This probe provides inventory and alarm collection (not available in free version).

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render: This probe provides the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probed Dashboard Web Page for Horizon View.

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe probes are native UIM probes that are deployed and managed using the UIM Infrastructure Manager.  The UIM Infrastructure Manager connects to an active Hub and allows you to control, configure and manage all robots and probes connected to that hub.  It also provides a probe Archive.  A probe can be deployed to any UIM hub once it has been imported into the Archive:

  • Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe must be installed on a UIM Robot which has IP connectivity to the Horizon View

  • Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe must be deployed to the UIM wasp probe

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor developed using UIM SDK for Java R2.8.5.

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render requires that the following probes are installed:

  • webservices_rest

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor

The Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe installation has the following System Requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 64

  • Hardware or Virtual Machine with 4 G RAM and Dual Core CPU, 80G disk space for Operating System and application

The Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe requires that the following ports on server be available:

Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render

The Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe deploys a WAR file to an existing UIM wasp probe and requires that the UIM wasp and webservices_rest probes are already installed on the UIM Monitor server.  The UIM wasp probe is typically deployed as part of the UIM UMP installation.  The UIM webservices_rest probe must be deployed manually to the wasp probe.  If UIM webservices_rest has been deployed, it will appear on the wasp probe Webapps list.

Installation Overview

The installation steps for the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe probes are:

  1. Import Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe probes into UIM Infrastructure Manager Archive.

  2. Deploy Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe.

  3. Deploy Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe.

Import Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe Probes to UIM Infrastructure Manager Archive

To import Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe probes to the UIM Infrastructure Manager Archive:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Expand the Archive folder and select the hub which is running the Robot where the probe will be deployed.

Hint:

  • For the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe, select the hub which has a Robot that has IP connectivity to the Horizon View .

  • For the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe, select the hub which has the wasp and webservices_rest probe installed.


  1. The list of existing probes archived on this hub is displayed.  Click on the right mouse button in this main window pane.

  2. Select the Import option in the menu that opens.

  1. Select the probe package that you would like to add to the archive and then select the Open button.

  1. The package(s) are added to your archive and appear in the main window pane for the hub.

  1. Repeat for the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor and Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probes.

Deploy Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor Probe

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisite for installing Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor.

Deploy Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor Probe

To deploy the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe on a UIM Robot:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Select the Archive where the probe was imported.

  3. Expand the Domains and hub folders until you can see the Robot where the probe will be deployed.

Hint:

  • For the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe, the Robot where it is deployed must have IP connectivity to the Horizon View.


  1. Drag the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe from the package archive and drop it onto the Robot.

  1. The Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe is automatically installed and started.

  2. To verify the probe deployment, select the Robot where the probe was deployed.  You should see the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe in the list that is displayed with “Yes” in the Active column.

Deploy Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render Probe

Prerequisites

Before installing the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe, the following UIM probes must be installed and properly configured on a UIM Robot:

  • wasp

  • webservices_rest

Deploy Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render Probe

Important!  

This procedure will result in a restart of the UIM wasp probe.

  • Restarting the wasp probe will result in a service interruption for the UIM UMP.

  • Restarting the wasp probe starts all of its associated webapps, even those that may have been manually stopped previously.


To deploy the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe on a UIM Robot:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Select the Archive where the probe was imported.

  3. Expand the Domains and hub folders until you can see the Robot where the probe will be deployed.

Hint:

  • For the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe, the Robot where it is deployed must be the Robot which has the wasp and webservices_rest probes installed.

  1. Drag the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe from the package archive and drop it onto the Robot.

  2. The Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render probe automatically deploys the Horizon View manager WAR file on the wasp probe and restarts the wasp probe.

Hint:

  • Time for the probe to be deployed and started will depend on how many webapps are associated with the wasp probe.


  1. To verify the probe deployment, select the Robot where the probe was deployed and right-click on the wasp probe and select the Configure option in the menu that appears.

  1. A new window appears with a list of all of the Webapps running on the wasp probe.  When the probe has been deployed correctly, it is shown in the WebApp list as supernanet.converge.render and with a green icon.

  1. .Configure Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page

Overview

The Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page is the central page used to view the Horizon View .  The Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page provides:

  • Horizon View component hierarchy display (not available in free probe)

  • Virtual Machine display with association to Horizon View hardware (not available in free probe)

  • Horizon View component properties and calculated status (not available in free probe)

  • Virtual Machine properties and status (not available in free probe)

  • Horizon View and Virtual Machine Alarms (not available in free probe)

Configure Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page

To configure the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page:

  1. Log in as an administrator to the UIM UMP.

  2. The UIM UMP home page appears.

  3. Select the Manage option in the top menu bar

  1. Select the Page option in the menu that appears.

  1. The Manage Pages page appears.

  2. Select the Home level in the left hand list.  This will place the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page as a main menu item in the top level menu bar.

  1. Select the Children link.

  1. In the page that appears, enter “Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe” in the Name field and in the Type field select the “Embedded” option.

  1. Select the Add Page button.

  2. A confirmation appears.

  3. Select the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page that you just added in the menu on the left.

  4. A properties page for the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page is displayed.

  1. In the Friendly URL field, enter “/supernanet-converge“.  This text string is appended to the default URL to access the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page.

Hint

  • The resulting Friendly URL must be unique to the UIM UMP installation.

  • The text string must not contain spaces or special characters.


  1. In the URL field enter a URL with format:

http://<ipaddress>/supernanet.converge.render/app.html


and replace <ipaddress> with the IP address of the server of the wasp probe where the supernanet.converge.render WebApp is running.

  1. Select the Save button to save your changes.

  2. To verify that the page has been created correctly, select the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web page from the menu.  The page should appear with following layout.

To stop the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Expand the Domain and hub and select the Robot where the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe is installed.

  3. Right click on the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe in the Robot probe list.

  4. Select the Deactivate option from the list that appears.

  1. Once the probe has been stopped, it will display “No” in the “Active” column.

Start the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor Probe

To start the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Expand the Domain and hub and select the Robot where the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe is installed.

  3. Right click on the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe in the Robot probe list.

  4. Select the Activate option from the list that appears.

  1. Once the probe has been started, it will display “Yes” in the “Active” column.

Restart the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor Probe

Important!

The UIM “Restart” option for probes is not supported for the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe.


To restart the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe:

  1. Follow the instructions for stopping the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe.

  2. When the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe shows “No” in the “Active” column, follow the instructions for starting the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe.

Stop Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render

To stop Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render so that Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe Web Page is not displayed:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Expand the Domain and hub and select the Robot where the wasp probe hosting Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render is installed.

  3. Right click on the wasp probe in the Robot probe list.

  4. Select the Configure option from the list that appears.

  1. Right click on supernanet.converge.render in the Webapps list.

  1. Select Edit.

  1. In the dialog window that opens select the Stop button to stop the supernanet.converge.render webapp.

Start the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render

To start the supernanet.converge.render webapp on the wasp probe:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Expand the Domain and hub and select the Robot where the wasp probe hosting Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render is installed.

  3. Right click on the wasp probe in the Robot probe list.

  4. Select the Configure option from the list that appears.

  5. Right click on supernanet.converge.render in the Webapps list.

  6. Select Edit.

  7. In the dialog window that opens select the Start button to start the supernanet.converge.render webapp.

Deploy a new Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe Version

Important!

Deploying a new version of Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor will cause a temporary service interruption for Horizon View as the probe restarts.

Deploying a new version of Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render will cause a temporary service interruption UIM UMP as the wasp probe restarts.


To install a new version of a Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe probe:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Import the package for the new version of the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe probe into the Archive.

  3. Deploy the updated Archive package to the appropriate Robot.

Delete the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor Probe

To remove the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe from a Robot:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Expand the Domain and hub and select the Robot where the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe is installed.

  3. Right click on the Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Monitor probe in the Robot probe list.

  4. Select the Delete option from the list that appears.


Note:

Deleting probe from UIM Infrastructure Manager does not remove the files from the server where the probe was deployed.  If this is required, the files must be removed manually.

Delete Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render

To delete Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render from the wasp probe where it is deployed:

  1. Login to the UIM Infrastructure Manager.

  2. Expand the Domain and hub and select the Robot where the wasp probe hosting Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_Render is installed.

  3. Right click on the wasp probe in the Robot probe list.

  4. Select the Configure option from the list that appears.

  1. Right click on supernanet.converge.render in the Webapps list.

  1. Select Edit.

  2. In the dialog that opens select the Stop button to stop supernanet.converge.render.

  3. On the server where the wasp probe is running, delete C:\Program Files (x86)\UIM\probes\service\wasp\webapps\supernanet.converge.render.

  4. Eyeglass Connect for Horizon View Probe_render will be removed from the wasp probe Webapps list.


Horizon Events


The following Horizon Events are collected by the Eyeglass Connect Horizon View Probe:


  • BROKER_USERLOGGEDIN
  • BROKER_USERLOGGEDOUT
  • BROKER_MACHINE_ASSIGNED_UNAVAILABLE

These events are visible using the native Nimsoft interface.  They are not displayed in the Eyeglass web page.
